Betty was really in for a surprise when she went to work early recently.
She heard rumors that they were getting a modern boss, although she was unsure who it was! The corporation president called all the top executives to a meeting to introduce the modern general manager of the business! Betty was caught off guard when she saw it was her good friend from high school.
She hadn’t seen him since they decided to go their separate ways after graduation. He was going away for university and essentially wanted his freedom. At least, that is what Betty heard from his ongoing explanation. He observed her immediately, and she walked into the room and smiled. They got an occasion to catch up after the meeting. He apologized again and asked her if she would go for a drink. They went to a bar near work and had such an enjoyable time catching up now that they were both adults. It was roughly 1 at night when Betty got back to her lake house and realized her a/c equipment wasn’t even working. It seemed there was a particular setback because she recalled checking the temperature control before leaving the lake house that afternoon. She always enjoyed leaving the a/c equipment on to keep her lake house cool and comfortable in the boiling season. Since it was late, Betty chose to fall asleep after turning on a small portable cooling equipment in her room. Early the next afternoon, she called a Heating & A/C equipment worker nearby to book an appointment for Heating & A/C repair since she wasn’t really sure why the a/c wasn’t working. She knew they would send over an AC equipment mechanic to come to evaluate and take care of the issue, although she had to be a little late to work for that to happen. Instead, she called in and said she would be working from home.
