The entire time I am working, I am singing.
A couple of the HVAC technicians in my company were very serious about their work. I was serious about my work as an HVAC technician, but I wasn’t a serious HVAC technician. I know you’re wondering what I mean, but I can’t be serious all the time. Every repair is either a game or a challenge, which I readily accept. If I can’t have fun with my job, I don’t want to do it. My dad once told me that if you can’t have fun, then find another job, and I believed him. My first job had me frustrated and overwhelmed most of the time, and after talking to my wife, she told me to quit. We were okay for about a year, if I wanted to change careers. I looked online to see what classes they were offering at the local career center, and it didn’t take long to find what I was looking for. I told her I was going to be an HVAC technician. I have enjoyed being an HVAC technician since that time. People tell me what is wrong with their furnace and air conditioning, and I smile and tell them not to worry. The entire time I am working, I am singing. I wasn’t a serious HVAC technician, but I was serious about what I did. My customers are always happy with the job I have done, and I have enjoyed myself while working. I couldn’t think of a better career to have, than being an HVAC technician who enjoys their job. I’m glad I made the career change when I did.
