The furnace at Zack’s family lake house is an older version, and a lot of people suppose that it should absolutely be upgraded.
Zack knows that’s because it sounds so loud when it’s running.
However, to him, the sound of the furnace working away is particularly soothing and he enjoys it. You know how a lot of people like the sound of rain drumming on a roof when they are sleeping? That’s how the overly loud furnace sounds to Zack when he is sleeping while in the Wintertide weeks. Of course, his family at the lake house doesn’t share his vows of the unit. All of them think that it’s just a frustrating roaring sound whenever the furnace kicks on at night. Zack does divulge that it’s a little bit loud when it first comes on, however after you get over the initial shock, the roar is particularly soothing. It’s almost like you are standing next to a raging fireplace or something, enjoying that. But Zack’s family says that it’s crazy because the furnace is not supposed to be as loud as a truck on the highway. They say it’s supposed to be background noise in their house, not the first thing that they notice when it’s running. Zack knows that they have a point, however when he called to make an appointment with a Heating and Air Conditioning corporation to come and repair the loud furnace, he was a little bit frustrated. He had to admit that he just didn’t want the furnace to be quieter. He’d be good with it if it stayed this loud forever.
