Indoor concerts without air conditioning can be miserable when it’s also warm outside

I loved going to concerts before I got to college.

When I had the time, I loved taking the bus to the inner city where I could see live shows at clubs and bars with the craziest atmospheres. There was this one short-lived music venue in my city that was called The Box Social. They hosted a large number of shows featuring bands in the small indie music scene here. I loved going there on Friday or Saturday nights while I was a senior in high school. It was a 40 minute drive from my house and my friends and I either loaded into a car with one another or took the bus each time. The best shows were during the winter when they would open the exterior doors in the front and in the rear to create a cool cross breeze coming in. Unfortunately, the lack of air conditioning in the summer made those shows somewhat miserable. A lot of clubs in the city lack quality air conditioning in the hottest portions of the summer, and it can get quite uncomfortable inside. You end up sweltering when you’re just trying to have a good time. The last time I went to an indoor concert, it was at a large concert hall that had such good air conditioning that I actually felt cold at various times throughout the show. I wore cool clothing to make sure I didn’t swelter, but it turned out to be unnecessary with the strong air conditioners in the concert hall. I guess I was lucky this time around with the temperatures inside the building.
