I’m losing a lot of air flow anywhere in the ductwork, and I need to find out where it is.
I think some of the duct tape came off from one of the joints on the ducts and it’s allowing a lot of air to leak out. As I checked out our Heating and Cooling system’s air handler area, I didn’t see any leaks from there, so I suppose it must be somewhere in the basement, where the ductwork runs. Because there is no attic or crawlspace at this beach house, and the ceilings are too low to run ducts, I have the vents in the floors. Some rats may have chewed up the tape on the ducts or something, despite the fact that I need to service them. All I need to do is go to the local corporation to buy some duct tape, and I’m ready to go. Observing that the air conditioning wasn’t cooling the beach house as much as it used to, I first cleaned the HEPA filter, but then observed it was still not working well. I checked the air flow from the vents and found that it was restricted. My assumption is that one of the ducts is leaking. If I’m not able to solve the problem, I’ll call my friend who works at the local Heating and A/C business to see if he can help. I don’t think they are open today, which is Sunday, so I’ll call them tomorrow if I can’t figure it out on my own.
