It froze up

I work in an office building and the other week we had a pretty bad snow storm.

As a result, the rooftop heating and air conditioning system that provides our heating froze up! This caused the central heating to fully stop working.

It got pretty cold in there at work. However, they were able to go and get some portable space heaters to keep us warm while they called the heating and air conditioning company to request commercial emergency heat and a/c services for the rooftop heating and cooling system. They sent out a few heating and cooling specialists to the building to begin working on fixing the rooftop air conditioning and heating system. It took them several hours to unfreeze what had been frozen, and they finally got the rooftop heating and air conditioning system back up and running again just as we were all leaving for the day. I can only imagine what the bill was like for a heating and air conditioning company to repair a commercial rooftop heat and a/c system. I know I would never be able to afford such things whatever the price may have been. But I was glad that when I came back to work the next day the central heating was working fine again. Because the portable space heaters they put around the building only took the chill out. It was still pretty darn cold in there and I would have had a hard time trying to work again under those temperature conditions. Rooftop heating and air conditioning systems are sure tricky!
