I think that air conditioners are absolutely essential during the summer, and I can’t imagine living without them.
Some people don’t think that central air conditioners are important. They mention that people have lived for thousands of years without central air conditioners, and they are sure that we can do it again. Obviously, people in history have learned how to cope with the heat, but I think that there are some key differences between different cultures. First of all, global warming has changed things. Sure, people used to live without central air conditioners before, but now, the pollution in the air has caused the temperatures to rise. Also, since the population is denser on our planet, people have to live in less optimal climates. Before, you could spread out and find the perfect place to live and survive during the summer. Now, we have fewer choices for location, meaning that you might have to live in an area that people would have avoided in the past. The central air conditioner can help make certain areas more hospitable than they used to be. Finally, we simply aren’t used to living without air conditioners anymore. Sure, you might be able to live without an air conditioner if you have never had one, but we have been trained to use them, and we do not do as well without air conditioners. I don’t think that this is something that we can fight since it is part of our culture now. We just have to accept the fact that we are stuck with air conditioners during the summer. Honestly, I am not sad about that.
