It devastated me when that mentor was our sister
I have more than four siblings, & every 1 of them are ladies. By the time I was 16, I was almost a foot taller than even our tallest sister, 5’ 5”. When she graduated from school, she went to school to become an Heating, Ventilation & A/C professional. I had talked about becoming an Heating, Ventilation & A/C professional from the time I was 10 years old & an Heating, Ventilation & A/C professional had come to the apartment & allowed me to watch while he repaired the a/c unit. I knew he was taking pity on me being the only boy in a apartment full of ladies, but it was fun to watch him laboring on the a/c system. The tallest of all our sisters was only 5 years older than I was, & before I graduated from school, she was 1 of the top Heating, Ventilation & A/C professionals in our local Heating, Ventilation & A/C dealer. I swore that 1 day I was going to be a better Heating, Ventilation & A/C professional than she was. I signed up for the Heating, Ventilation & A/C courses right after graduation & worked hard to stay at the top of our class. I graduated number 1 in our Heating, Ventilation & A/C classes, & I got the highest grade on our certification exam. I even secured a position in the same Heating, Ventilation & A/C supplier our sister was laboring at. I was going to be localed with a mentor for the first more than five weeks. It devastated me when that mentor was our sister. I went to the Heating, Ventilation & A/C supplier manager & asked if I could have another mentor other than her & he said no. I was afraid our sister is always going to be a better Heating, Ventilation & A/C professional than I am if she is our mentor.
