My dad asked me to work as a floor cleaner where he works. I had asked him to get me an office position, but dad said that I don’t have any skills so this was the best he could do. Recently, the whole office building got brand new flooring. This has prompted my employer to insist on disinfecting the floors on a nightly basis. The owner of the building doesn’t want them to become dull. The commercial flooring looked good when it was put down and they want to make sure that it will continue to look good for many years. I’ve been cleaning these floors since I went to the midnight evening shift. The midnight shift starts at 11:00 instead of 10:00. I like this shift since it works for my partner and I. My partner doesn’t get home until 10:30 and we only have one automobile. My boss was glad to transfer me to the other shift and let me start half an hour later. Some employees talked about the modern flooring not getting cleaned in some offices and they seemed to point a finger at me. I politely reminded them that my schedule had been changed, so these offices were no longer on my rotation. Some other cleaners were to handle them. I thought I saw them sleeping upstairs in one of the break rooms, but I wasn’t sure! Now I’m 100% it was them.
