A Rebate For Managing Power Consumption

When I purchased a smart thermostat for the first time, I had no idea how much savings would occur.

Everyone raved about their smart thermostats and their ability to save hundreds of dollars on their utility bills each month, but I didn’t understand how it was possible.

I finally caved and purchased a smart thermostat for my own home out of peer pressure. I wanted to have the same looking thermostat that everyone else had because it looked more modern and way cooler. When I sat down to read the manual about the smart thermostat, I realized that I could purchase a power manager through the local energy company to help save me even more money. Basically, the energy company offered a program that regulated and managed your smart thermostat so that you were saving energy during peak times. As an incentive, the company would offer a seventy five dollar rebate to anyone who signed up. They were also offering a twenty five dollar incentive to anyone who participated for more than a year. This was a great way to not only run my HVAC system efficiently, but it was also cutting back on the general consumption of power grids. Because most people don’t like the idea of someone controlling their thermostat on rare occasions, they tend not to sign up for programs like these. On the other hand, I thought the seventy five dollar rebate was a fantastic deal and a great way to cut back on energy. I wish more people would participate.
