My sister and I purchased houses that were built in the same year, multiple decades ago.
The houses weren’t in the same city, but within driving distance and it wasn’t odd that they were constructed in the same year. This section went through a immense housing boom back during that time frame and a lot of the houses were built with the same style! Not only were our houses built during the same year, but our Heating and A/C systems were updated during the same year, which meant that our modern Heating and A/C systems were the same age. Knowing this, we’ve constantly kept each other accountable for Heating and A/C tune ups and we’ve constantly compared our energy bills to see who was able to save money, last year though, our oil furnaces needed to be updated because they were running inefficiently and experiencing a lot of problems. I decided to have our oil furnace updated at the end of the Winter time season and our sister decided to wait until the following fall. She said that she didn’t want to spend the money on the oil furnace when she had almost an entire year before turning it on again; Since she chose to do this, she had the lingering responsibility to pay for and update her oil furnace for weeks while I was able to relax knowing that mine was handled, but by the time fall rolled around, I could sense that our sister was relieved. It would have caused much less stress and anxiety if he’d simply updated her oil furnace at the end of the Winter time savor I did.
