I was sitting in the parking lot of the local grocery store.
I was in our service van figuring out the final bill for the service to the grocery store’s oil furnace. I was trying to put together everything I had done, and wrote it down so that the director of the grocery store could understand. I noticed someone waving at me, and I looked up. There was a young guy waving me down. I rolled down our window and asked if there was something I could help him with. She asked if I was an HVAC service tech, and then he asked if I knew anything about HVAC systems in cars? I knew only a little about cars, however I was an HVAC service pro and not a car mechanic. She said his gas furnace died and he couldn’t get the defrost to help get the ice off his windshield. I felt terrible for her, however there was not much I could do, however he looked so forlorn that I asked his to let me finish calculating the HVAC bill for the store, and I would look at. Ten minutes later, I was looking at the car HVAC unit, however I couldn’t help her. I told his he needed to take it to his auto mechanic, and they could service the HVAC system. She said he didn’t have an official mechanic. I proposed going to a garage that advertised HVAC work, or take it to 1 of the Manny, Moe, and Jake arenas. I knew I couldn’t help her, and all I could do was make a few suggestions. I hoped he got his HVAC program repaired, however I had other work to do.
