More often than not, I tend to be one of those people who can just not see the answer to a challenge even when it’s right in front of my face. So the fact that it took me so long to get out of the poor heating and cooling of the gym isn’t all that surprising. All those years of dealing with poor commercial HVAC at my gym was sort of a necessary evil in my mind. I work inside the zone controlled HVAC of an office downtown. But I live an hour away in a small, rural town. This is by choice and I’m lucky that I work remotely from the central air conditioning of my house quite often. Still, I have to commute at least a few times each week. But living in a small town didn’t give me all that many options when it came to a gym. It was either the fancy country club that I couldn’t afford or the gym with the not so great heating and cooling. I didn’t want to join a gym in the city because I wasn’t there enough. And I didn’t want to leave the gym with the bad commercial HVAC because I needed the exercise. I dealt with that situation far longer than I really should have. The whole time, the answer was right in front of me. When it finally dawned on me, I got right to putting in a home gym. I was able to find plenty of used equipment at a ridiculous price. I even took care of the quality heating and air situation by having a ductless heat pump installed.
