Neglecting the heater until trouble happens

It has been an extremely busy two months for me.

It’s peak season at work.

I’m a customer service representative for a tax filing company. People have been calling in for all sorts of problems and I have been on the phone from the beginning of my shift all the way to the end just about every day. In between having such a busy schedule at work and taking care of my two kids and their sports team events, I have to admit that there were a couple things that I let go this week that I should have taken care of. It’s very cold outside and the heating system has shown signs of acting up. Because I’ve been so busy, I simply turned the thermostat down so that the heat would not have to work so hard. However, just last night I was awoken by a strange and loud noise coming from the air ducts, at which point the heat seemed to stop working all together. I panicked! It was 17° that night, and humidity was high, which only made things even more miserable. I immediately called in the HVAC technician the following morning because there was no way that we were going to be able to make it through without getting the heat fixed. I guess I’m just going to have to get back into the habit of using a daily planner to make sure that I’ve got all my bases covered to prevent emergencies like this. My household definitely cannot go without heat this winter season, that’s for sure!
