I almost had enough money saved for my new couch when my heating system stopped working.
That seems to always be how things go with me.
I always get really close to things that I want, and then suddenly the rug is jerked out from under me and I miss out. No, I am not a pessimist. I guess I am just a realist, for the most part. Honestly, this kind of thing seems to always happen to me, no matter what I am trying to accomplish in my life. The last time I applied for a promotion, I made it to the top 2 in the interview process and then they went with the other guy. Just when I start hoping that things are gonna turn around for me, that’s when I always get gut punched. Well, that is exactly the kind of thing that happened to me with the new couch situation a couple of weeks ago. There was this awesome couch that I really wanted to get for my living room and I had just about enough money saved up to get it. Then suddenly, I noticed that the heating system in the house wasn’t working. I checked the thermostat but that didn’t seem to be the problem. It turned out that the furnace itself was on the blink. I had to call my local HVAC company and have them come out to do an emergency repair on the furnace for me. That kind of emergency work is not cheap, let me tell you! I ended up having to use up all of my couch money on the furnace.
