Why can’t my family close the door to the laundry room?

There are no Heating, Ventilation, and A/C vents in our laundry room.

That, combined with the fact that there are dryer vents leading outside, makes the laundry room constantly entirely boiling and uncomfortable.

It’s basically the same temperature as the air outside. Since the door leading to the laundry room is sealed, this entirely is not a big issue unless someone leaves the laundry room door open. The thermostat for the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system is right next to the laundry room so that means that if the laundry room door is left open the thermostat feels the moderate air and it runs the air conditioner always. It should be a easy thing to just leave the laundry room door closed. Apparently it’s not, and over the past six months there have been many possibilities where someone has failed to close the laundry room door and the air conditioner has made the rest of the house entirely cold. It happened last night; My pal and I were all asleep and we woke up to a entirely cold afternoon. Last week, someone left the laundry room open before we went to work and we came dwelling to a cold cold house. This makes for some pretty expensive electric bills and I’m not sure what to do about it. I evaluated that the door is closed often even though I cannot be on top of it all of the time. I’m thinking of getting some sort of an alarm installed or maybe I can just get a self-closing door put in so that the door cannot be left open. I don’t know. if all else fails, maybe we can just move the thermostat away from the laundry room so that at least the air conditioner wouldn’t run always when the door is left open.
