Working on the farm is hard without A/C during the summer, that’s for sure.

I really enjoy the work at this little family owned farm, but it is not the easiest job that I have ever had, that’s for sure.

It is actually very difficult because we get really high temperatures around here during this summer. If you have ever worked outside on a farm during the summer, then you know how dusty and dirty and hot it can be. Of course, there is nowhere out there on the farm that has air conditioning at all, so I am hot from the time that the sun comes up until I get finished with work at the end of the day. You had better believe that I am excited to get into my truck and turn the air conditioning system on full blast at the end of the day! I thought about quitting the farm this year because I am already dreading the hot summer temperatures that are going to happen during the summer months. I just can’t bring myself to quit for some reason, though. I guess there’s just something about working outside with the land that I really enjoy. I would much rather do that than work in an office somewhere at a desk. Even though the office would have central air conditioning, I would still prefer to be outside in the fresh air. Last winter, the cold temperatures nearly got to me, though. It’s one thing to be hot during the summer with no A/C, but it’s a whole different thing whenever you’re freezing cold outside during the winter!

I really had no idea that there were so many air filters to choose from when I went to the home improvement store last week.

• I usually don’t go to the home improvement store at all.

My husband usually does all of the things like that around the house, but he is traveling for work right now. He’s been so busy with work for a long time now that I have had to take over a lot of the things around the house that I used to not have to do. I have to say that I am not very pleased about this. I do not like having to work on things around the house at all. However, we have been having some issues with our heating system lately and I think that it is because we need to change the air filter. The thermostat unit has a warning light on it that flashes whenever it’s time to change the air filter and it’s been going off for a while now. At first I just tried to ignore it, but now it feels like the indoor quality in our house is not as great as it used to be. I am pretty sure it’s because of the fact that I need to change the air filter. That’s why I finally just gave up and went to the home improvement store myself to purchase one. I finally found the heating and cooling products aisle, but once I got over there, I could not believe that there were so many different kinds of air filters. I actually ended up having to talk to one of the store employees to see which air filter would work for my particular HVAC unit. I really had no idea what I was doing.

Heater maintenance

We really want to build an addition on our house this year, but we know that our existing HVAC system is not going to work when we put extra square footage onto the house.

It’s one of those things that we have been thinking about doing for a long time, but now it seems like it’s going to be a whole lot more involved than we originally thought it would be.

I actually used to think that it would be a simple thing to just build three extra walls onto the house and throw in some carpet and some paint and then we would be done. However, that doesn’t really seem to be the case now. I found out that the HVAC system that we currently have in the house is just not going to be big enough to handle any extra space that we might build onto the house. The people who we are working with at the HVAC company told us this news and we weren’t really thrilled about it, to tell you the truth. We were thinking that the project was just going to be simple, straightforward, and sort of inexpensive. When we got the news from the HVAC technician about the HVAC system, that all changed. Now we are going to have to completely refigure our budget that we had worked out. We are going to have to save even more money so that we will be able to install a second source of heating and cooling in the addition to the house. It’s going to cost us a lot more.

 

Heating and air conditioning system

The boiler is messed up at our house and I can’t figure out what to do about it.

I have never really been a big fan of the boiler, to tell you the truth.

I don’t think that boilers are the best way to heat a house, and I would never have installed a boiler in the house myself if it hadn’t already been here when I moved in. I wasn’t all that happy about the fact that this was the kind of heating system that was in the house whenever I bought the place, but I didn’t have that much of a choice at that point. There weren’t any other houses for sale in the area and I needed to find a place right away at that point. Otherwise, I probably would have waited until I found a house with a high efficiency heating and cooling system instead of a boiler! At least with an electric heater or an oil furnace, I would know a little bit about repairing it if I needed to. I don’t know a thing about boilers, though. To be honest, I am just a little bit afraid of them. I think that they are scary because I have read about them overheating and blowing up in certain cases! I would never have wanted a boiler in my house because of that reason if nothing else! Anyway, I’m going to have to call the local HVAC company to come and fix the boiler for me, I guess. I’m definitely not going to mess around with it myself.

When I came home today, the air conditioning was running. That’s the first time I’ve walked into the house with the air conditioning going after work. Actually, that’s not too bad considering most of my neighbors have had the air conditioning going since mid March. But that sort of goes with territory down here. While you don’t hear the heat pump much during the Winter, I can barely walk out of my home without hearing at least one heat pump. I’m sure glad that I don’t have to pay those sorts of cost when it comes to cooling my house. In our home, we are all native to this region and our families go way back. So we were sort of indoctrinated to the fact that you have to do your part when it comes to dealing with the heat. It can’t all be on the heat pump. That’s why we don’t use the air conditioning much until Summer. Once June rolls around, we’re definitely going to get our fill of cooling comfort. But until then, we like to do without air conditioning as much as possible. This allows our bodies to adjust so we need less air conditioning demand as the Summer heats up. My dad grew up without central air conditioning. In fact, there was no residential HVAC in his home at all. This is something that most people forget. There were people here long before there was a heat pump. However, the heat pump sure has made it easier for those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to endure the heat. Even though I’m a native of the region, I don’t think I want to do without my residential HVAC thank you.
