HVAC Tips for All

More often than not, I tend to be one of those people who can just not see the answer to a challenge even when it’s right in front of my face. So the fact that it took me so long to get out of the poor heating and cooling of the gym isn’t all that surprising. All those years of dealing with poor commercial HVAC at my gym was sort of a necessary evil in my mind. I work inside the zone controlled HVAC of an office downtown. But I live an hour away in a small, rural town. This is by choice and I’m lucky that I work remotely from the central air conditioning of my house quite often. Still, I have to commute at least a few times each week. But living in a small town didn’t give me all that many options when it came to a gym. It was either the fancy country club that I couldn’t afford or the gym with the not so great heating and cooling. I didn’t want to join a gym in the city because I wasn’t there enough. And I didn’t want to leave the gym with the bad commercial HVAC because I needed the exercise. I dealt with that situation far longer than I really should have. The whole time, the answer was right in front of me. When it finally dawned on me, I got right to putting in a home gym. I was able to find plenty of used equipment at a ridiculous price. I even took care of the quality heating and air situation by having a ductless heat pump installed.

It’s so great not to dread this time of year any longer.

When we lived up north, at least Christmas was a bit of a distraction from all the cold.

But once we passed the holiday season, the snow, ice and brutally low temperatures could not be ignored. Thankfully, the house we lived in had really good HVAC equipment. The gas furnace did a great job all the way up until we actually decided to move. So we upgraded the gas furnace prior to putting the house on the market. We were able to put our house on the market because I was offered early retirement. The company decided that it needed to downsize and cut salaries. That meant I was in line to cash in on my retirement plan with very little penalty. But it still wasn’t easy leaving the zone controlled HVAC of that office. I had spent all of my career inside that commercial HVAC. But it was certainly worth it given the fact that I was gifted nearly a decade of extra retirement. Once we sold the house, we set out for the south where there would be no need for a gas furnace. I can do without a white Christmas and all that stuff. I can do without all of that because I so enjoy the fact that winter comes with wonderful weather down here. While we may get a cold snap here and there, the heat pump pretty much stays dormant through the winter. But of course, the other side of that coin is the fact that we need air conditioning for up to 8 months a year. Still, I’d rather deal with the heat of summer than the deep cold of a northern winter.

This weekend the guys and I are staying at an Airbnb that is close to the ski resort.

Communication with the guys has been rocky.

The two of us have been trying to figure out where to meet up, food, drinks, etc. I assume the people I was with and I have it all covered. If not there is a small convenient store nearby. This is our annual thing. The two of us skipped last year unfortunately because my buddy Steve tried fixing his air conditioner component and he ended up in the hospital. I told him he should have called a Heating and Air Conditioning worker to do it. A few weeks before this weekend he wanted to fix his air conditioner again. He claimed he watched youtube videos and knows what he did wrong. I told him it was a bad idea and just in case I paid for a cooling worker to come to his house. I am not missing this year. The two of us all met up at the Airbnb with a guy giving us the keys to the locale with a list of directions. The two of us all walked in and it felt love the oil furnace was turned up to 100 degrees! My buddy John found the thermostat and wanted to turn it completely off so the people I was with and I could be ready to go outside. I only agreed to shut it off for an second or so because of how overheated it is however in no way will I agree to have it off for multiple seconds. I want to be comfortable when I am not outside. Tomorrow is the afternoon the people I was with and I get outside. The two of us agreed to be ready by 9am however Steve is the guy that the people I was with and I worry will not get up on time. Still I can’t wait to get out on the snow!

Commercial HVAC for sale

My mother is getting to an age where she needs someone there.

My wife and I do all all of us can for her. She lives with us and you can find her unbelievable in her room or lounging in her chair watching her programs. Other than that you can find her in the family room helping my wife or baking. With the holidays coming up I get gleeful because she bakes the best cookies. I don’t think what has about them but they can not be beat by anyone. She moved in after my father passed 5 years ago. I would not want her anywhere else besides here with my wife and I. All those years struggling as a single mom, living paycheck to paycheck, on food stamps, making sure all of us had clothes, a roof over our head, etc. She deserves a life of happiness and I am doing my best to give it to her. I love my mom, I easily do but there is a downside. She regularly wants the temperature control set to 85 degrees. I turn the temperature control dial to more of a satisfactory temperature of 68 degrees. This has been ongoing ever since fall hit. It is colder outside for sure but 85 degrees? I am strongly thinking about putting a smart temperature control in so I can have more control. While I am at work she can have it warmer but within an hour from myself and others going home I can set the temperature to what the family is used to. I shall have to ask my neighbor Ryan how it works and the benefits. For now I am going to buy a portable space heating system for her kitchen. She can turn that heat up to 1000 degrees if she likes.

Lincoln is a good neighbor of mine, and he also is our neighbor.

Whenever we are not at work, we spend time together catching up. Every one of us recently watched a pigskin match at his home, and I realized that his apartment was cold. After I asked him about it, he told myself and others it had been prefer that for some days since his whole-lake house heating unit kept chopping down, and he was considering buying a up-to-date one. He also explained that the heating specialist tried to repair it, but the heating unit was unrepairable, and not even proper servicing was helping the situation. I advocated he install a heat pump in his apartment to help with indoor comfort. The proposal of getting up-to-date heating unit had occurred to him, but he still needed to act on it. I told him I could acsupplier him to a heating supplier that sells odd gas oil furnaces the following weekend. Every one of us could also learn more about heating. During the weekend, we made the decision to go to the heating supplier and found an Heating as well as A/C professional who showed us odd unit and explained how they function. After this, Lincoln purchased the unit I had advocated and added a smart thermostat. The heating supplier also advocated him to have heating system maintenance correctly. After that, Lincoln called the best heating contractor he could find to handle the heat pump Installation. The Heating as well as A/C duct was newly installed. He also established the duct sealing cautiously to ensure it was completely insulated. He also made sure there was zone control for better temperature control. What was left was to set the thermostat to his number one settings.
