Somebody really crazy came up with the idea of having a music festival in the desert in the middle of June.

The temperatures in the desert in the middle of June are easily 100° or higher. My best friend got free tickets to the concert event and we decided to check out the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We got a tent from one of our friends and decided we would sleep outside like everyone else. The closest hotel was 45 minutes away from that concert venue, so tent camping was honestly the most ideal suggestion. During night time when the sun was down, it was extremely comfortable inside of the tent. It might have even been a little chilly. During the day, things were much different. It was extremely hot and there was no air conditioning anywhere at all. We were outside in the middle of the desert with no AC except for the one in our car. We didn’t want to run out of gas, so we didn’t use the AC. We dealt with the miserably hot temperatures and uncomfortable atmosphere all four days. By the end of day two, I didn’t recognize a problem with the heat much at all. I was already getting used to the hot daytime temperatures and they didn’t seem to bother me as much as they did on the first day that we arrived. On day three, I could have slept in the tent during the day. I never thought I would feel comfortable in the desert heat, but you really do get used to it quickly.

Frank and I have known each other since we were kids.

We played on the same little league team together and we lived in the same neighborhood.

Frank was one of the coolest guys I knew growing up. His mom and dad were both doctors and they had a ton of money. Still, they were a modest family living in a neighborhood like mine. They could have lived in a country club or golf course and Frank could have gone to private school, but they were regular people. Frank was the first friend of mine to get a car. His parents bought him a used sedan with four doors and moonroof. Frank and I cruised all over town on Fridays and Saturday nights in that car. We stayed in touch even during college when both of us went to different schools. Frank and I live close now and we see each other practically everyday. Frank has a considerable trust fund from his parents, and he recently used some of the money to buy a condo in the same neighborhood where I rent mine. The place is huge and one of the biggest floor models at over 2100 square feet. I thought the palace was perfect, but Frank wants to upgrade to radiant heated floors. I’m really jealous, because I know radiant heated floors are warm and cozy and very energy efficient.. Frank and I are going to watch the radiant heated flooring installers, so we can attempt the same job at my place some day. The installation begins on Thursday and should take three days total.

I was completely and totally unimpressed with the accommodations that my wife and I had the last time we stayed in a hotel.

• I was so upset that I wanted us to leave in the middle of the night.

My wife was tired and wanted to get some sleep, otherwise we would have gone back home a day early. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, I found the place to be old and dirty. I did not believe the pictures online have been updated in a very long time. I wanted to cancel our reservations when I saw our room and the HVAC unit that looked to be at least 10 years old. Every time the machine came on, the room filled with an awful stench that nearly knocked me out. It was awful. I called the manager to complain about the HVAC system and the guy seemed like he didn’t really care that we had an issue. He didn’t offer to switch our room and he didn’t offer to send someone to help. His response to my problem was to say that these kinds of issues can happen from time to time because the machine is old. I already knew the problem was happening because of the age of the HVAC unit, so I didn’t need the guy to tell me that information. When I got off the phone with the front desk clerk, I told my wife that we were going to pack up our bags and leave. That’s when she said that we weren’t going to leave, because she was tired and needed to get some rest.

After I lost my job during the quarantine, I had a hard time finding something.

• I used all of my savings to pay my rent, car payment, and gas bill.

I didn’t have a lot of money left over for anything, so I had to find a roommate quickly. One of my old co-workers named Jack offered to move into the second bedroom in my apartment and share the rent 50/50. The guy was still living at home with his parents so it was a good transition to make, because he wasn’t going to be alone, but he was still sort of on his own. His mom and Dad paid the security deposit and two months rent when he moved into the apartment. I like Jack a lot, but I have definitely noticed some behaviors that drive me crazy. Jack likes the indoor temperatures much colder than me. I normally have the thermostat temperature set at 74 degrees. The day Jack moved in, he made a comment about living in a steam room. I thought he was joking, but apparently he was telling the truth. Every morning when I wake up after Jack, I adjust the thermostat from 68° back up to 74 degrees. This has been going on for the past few weeks. I don’t think all of the shifts in temperature are good for the thermostat or the air conditioner, but I don’t want to fight with my new roommate when the guy just moved in. The indoor temperature seems like such a trivial thing to argue about when one of us can put on a sweatshirt or put on a pair of shorts.

My first house was a two bedroom and one bathroom place that was small, but big enough for me and my dog.

It was the perfect size for a bachelor when a new job and a fresh college degree.

I lived in the two-bedroom house for a long time and then I met my wife. We lived in the house until we got married, and then we decided to upgrade to something bigger. We rented the house for a while, but both of us grew tired of dealing with renters and Rental problems. Eventually we decided to sell the house. We didn’t get a lot of interest in the beginning and that was a surprise. I really wanted to sell the house without any help from a realtor. That didn’t seem possible when we had no offers in the first 60 days. My wife contacted a realtor and friend that she knew from college. The woman came out to the house and evaluated our listing and the amount of money that we wanted for the property. One of the first comments that the woman made was about our Central AC. She insisted that was the reason why we did not have any offers. The central AC was old and needed to be replaced. He told my wife and I to spend the money and update the central AC on our own. She promised the results would be astonishing and she was right. After we updated the central AC, we got three offers on the property in seven days. We probably could have listed the house for $10,000 more and still got a full offer.
