When my buddies and I decided to rent a cabin, it was a pleasant experience for the most part.

We went to a place that wasn’t too far from home.

My buddies originally wanted to go on a road trip, but I said I would rather relax someplace with quiet evenings, drinks, and food. So one friend suggested we go to a cabin and we all agreed. Everybody pitched in on everything; the price, the food, and the drinks. Well, the cabin rental said there would be a fireplace with plenty of firewood. Sadly, there was no firewood, but the HVAC system seemed to be working alright. I called to complain about the firewood and I was told they would have some delivered in a few days. I didn’t mind too much since we were staying there for the course of the week, and we could enjoy the fireplace later on at least. Well, we were alright for a few days until the heating system broke down! Suddenly, we had no access to heating except for the fireplace. We were so desperate, we went out and scouted for wood. We actually found a pretty good amount and we were able to relax in front of the fireplace, but we kept having to feed the wood into the fireplace. Eventually when we ran out of wood for the fireplace, we had to go looking for more. I called to complain, but the rental company said they couldn’t get a hold of any HVAC professionals to fix the heating system. I was happy though when the wood delivery arrived, and we were able to continue using the fireplace for the rest of our experience. We also got some money back for our troubles with the heating system.

It’s funny how things go sometimes.

With my wife, she is somebody I never expected to be married to. I loved her to death, but we were always the best of friends. You know what they say, once you’re in the friend zone, there’s no getting past it. Well, she had me take her home one time and asked if I would adjust the temperature control settings. When I tried to find a suitable temperature, she ended up making the adjustment to the temperature control herself. She was blasting the A/C system so much that I was feeling a little frigid. She even wanted to play her old school mix tape, and again, I didn’t have a problem. Well, when I heard the jams, it got me into the music and I started singing all the different songs with her. I had to stop for a minute to put on a sweater because it was so frosty in my car, but I had a really great time singing with her while taking her home. She was telling me how she had a wonderful time, acting like it was a date and I just dropped her off. I played along and said next time I would take her to a proper restaurant and let her have whatever she wanted on the menu. Even though I was mostly joking, she agreed and told me when I was ging to pick her up, and she would be ready for me. When I first took her to a nice restaurant, it was a strange feeling because we had only been friends up until that point. I got us a nice table by the fireplace. We enjoyed some good food, laughs, and the rest was history.

I still thought the air quality could be improved some, but my boss refused to invest in HEPA filters for the improvement of the workplace

There was this place I worked for when I was young where we made credit cards. It was one of the main credit card producing places in the country. My boss said everybody should be considered lucky to have a job at this place, but I thought that was just a bunch of nonsense. To me it was just a job and I needed money to cover all my bills. Admittedly, the pay was not too shabby and I made a lot of friends at this place in no time. I ended up hanging out with certain people and we all had fun at the job honestly. There was one guy who was saying how we must be ‘the elite group.’ I didn’t consider myself elite at all, but we all had a solid game plan when it came to the work and we worked great as a team. We utilized different machinery to prepare different cards and get them ready for shrinkwrap and boxing. Personally, I worked all types of different stations at this job. I’ve done shrinkwrap and boxing, quality assurance, gift cards, counting cards, and other things. I think I enjoyed the place so much because of the people. I also enjoyed the nice temperature control settings and the reasonable air quality. I still thought the air quality could be improved some, but my boss refused to invest in HEPA filters for the improvement of the workplace. Still, that didn’t bother me so much. What bothered me was when the management told everybody that they would keep their jobs, and fired everybody the next day, except for a few people including me. I ended up quitting soon after because I no longer felt I could respect the management.

My wife said she wasn’t in the mood for making dinner the other day.

She asked me earlier on what I wanted, but I honestly had no idea.

She usually comes up with some of the best dinner ideas, but this time we were both stumped. Then I suggested that perhaps we go to a nice restaurant. I told her we could go to her favorite place and get a table near the fireplace. She thought about it and said she was in the mood for different kinds of food and we had been to that place too many times. It’s not that we didn’t love the place, just wanted something different is all. So I looked for all the different restaurants in the area and I finally stumbled across this place with an old style theme. The restaurant was called ‘The Blackburn’ and they had such a fine dining hall. The seating was amazing, the service was exceptional, and the food was to die for. There was a fireplace in there, but the place was packed and we didn’t get to sit anywhere near it. Fortunately, the temperature control settings were on point in the place and even the air quality was amazing. I asked our waitress about the air quality and how it was so wonderful. She smiled and said that the owners decided to invest in a UV air purification system a little while back. That was the reason why the air quality was totally on point! I was saying to my wife that we needed to invest in a similar air purification system so we could feel such comfort at home.

The other day, I was in front of my fireplace reading a book.

It wasn’t just any book to have a great time, it was a handyman book! I was trying to learn about the sump pump system since we had a huge problem.

The old sump pump had failed and we were getting minor flooding in the basement. I knew that if I couldn’t get a new sump pump installed, I was going to be in big trouble, so I was desperately learning everything that I could to take on the job. I would have hired a professional to take care of it, but I didn’t have enough money in the bank for a professional install like that. It’s certainly not something that I chose to budget for, and so I was there in front of my fireplace studying that book for the longest time. I eventually looked online to look at the different sump pumps I could go for. I didn’t want whatever cheap sump pump that failed me before, I wanted something that would last. I ended up buying a new pump that was a reliable brand. The actual replacement of the old sump pump was relatively easy. The only thing that annoyed me was all the spider webs I kept running into and I was coughing up dust in the basement because the air quality is lousy down there. I probably should invest in a powerful air purification system to improve the air quality, but that wasn’t my priority. I was so happy when I got the new sump pump installed and everything was working great.
