All I know is HVAC.

When I talked about retiring, I was almost seventy.

I still felt like a young guy and knew I could work circles around the young guys I worked with.

I started wondering what I was going to do with my time once I retired. My wife told me I could take up a hobby, or we could do some traveling. I didn’t think traveling was a good idea because of the cost of fuel. I told her all I know is HVAC. I was in the office last week, and I sat down to talk to the owner of the HVAC company. I told him I was considering retiring. As much as he hated to see me go, he understood I was getting tired. He said he was sixty-five, and he noticed how he was slowing down. I wasn’t slowing down, but I noticed the aches and pains more. All the injuries I received in the past, seemed to be revisiting me on a regular basis. I had been working as an HVAC technician for almost 40 years, and I was getting tired, but I didn’t want to be lazy. I told the boss I had a job to get done, and headed out of the office. A week later, Pete, the owner of the HVAC company, called me into his office. He told me he had a part time job for me. They were looking for HVAC instructors, and he immediately thought of me. I knew everything about HVAC systems, and I had patience with new technicians, since I had been a mentor for years. I asked when I started, because I was putting in my retirement notice.

The air conditioner smells like vomit.

I couldn’t figure out where the odd smell in my house was coming from.

  • I had been smelling this odor that reminded me of bad milk or vomit.

The only thing I could think of was that it was coming from the air vents. I never thought it could be the air conditioner that smells like vomit. I had to call the HVAC company and have them do an inspection of the air conditioner and the ductwork. I was sure if the odor was coming from the air vents when the air conditioning came on, the smell had traveled deep into the ductwork. The air conditioning had turned on about five minutes before the HVAC technician arrived, and the odor was still strong in the house. He knew why I had called before I had the chance to tell him. He inspected the air conditioning first, and said there was nothing wrong in it. He was now inspecting the ductwork. He told me he was going to call the HVAC company and have them send out a team of ductwork cleaners. They would clean the ductwork, and air vents, making sure all the dust debris, and possible bugs were done. They would also inspect the ductwork to make sure there were no breaks or separations at the seams. Three days later, the ductwork was being cleaned. I couldn’t believe how good my house smelled. The odor of spoiled milk and vomit was no longer in the house when the air conditioner turned on, but it smelled clean and fresh. He said he couldn’t tell me what the odor was, but it was just a culmination of all the dirt, dust and debris that had built up in the ductwork.

Without a humidifier, I was drying out like a snail.

All winter long, my skin looks like alligator skin.

I look at my arms and they are almost as wrinkled as my 90-year old grandmother’s skin.

I know I need a humidifier in my house, but I keep forgetting until it is too late. I bought a portable humidifier, but it wasn’t enough to make a change. I’m afraid if I keep forgetting about humidification in the winter, I’ll not get rid of the wrinkles, and I’ll look sixty when I’m still in my thirtie My mom told me I could get a humidifier that goes into the furnace, if I keep forgetting to install the portable one. She said I could also put pans of water inside the air vents, but I’m afraid I’d forget that more than I do the humidifier. She then jokingly told me to cook more pasta during the winter. I knew she was joking because she knows I don’t like pasta. I am finding now that not only is my skin getting leathery in the winter, but it is the same in the summer. I am an avid swimmer, and I guess I thought the water would help hydrate my skin, even if I am in the sun. I was wrong. I lived in a dry area, and I needed a humidifier in the air conditioner as much as I needed it in the furnace. When I called the HVAC company, they told me I should have a humidifier in my air conditioner. The technician came out to look at the air conditioner. There was no humidifier in my air conditioner. I had to buy a new air conditioner. The good news is that this one was already old when I bought the house.

It was a definitive yes, to a new air conditioner

My husband and I had been discussing what we were going to do for air conditioning this year.

At the end of the summer season last year, we were told we needed a new air conditioning unit.

We hoped to baby the AC unit for one more year, but our service this spring told us it wasn’t going to happen. The HVAC technician was quite adamant about us needing the new air conditioning unit. We tried looking at different websites and watching for sales, hoping to get a good price on an air conditioning unit like we recently had. The cost of air conditioning units had gone up considerably since we bought the old AC unit. We were running out of time with the weather, and we needed to make a decision. It was a definitive yes to a new air conditioner, but we didn’t know which one to buy. Looking at the weather told us we had to make a decision because they were showing possible nineties at the end of the ten-day forecast. I called the HVAC company and asked them to send someone out to measure up for the new air conditioner. Even if we had to reach into our home equity, we had to get the air conditioner. When the HVAC technician arrived, he had some good news for us. He said there were some AC units that were on sale. They weren’t being clearanced out, but they were good air conditioning units. He would buy one of them if he needed one. We knew he was an excellent HVAC technician and took his suggestion.

They told me I had won an air conditionerI

I got a phone call from the local home center last week. They gave me my name and address and told me I had won a prize in their raffle. I had won a brand new air conditioning unit, and all I had to do was come to the home center and pick out my new air conditioner. I needed a new AC unit in my bedroom, and I was immediately wondering what size AC unit I needed. My dad and mom came over, and dad checked the BTU’s. The next day, he took me to the home center to pick out my AC unit. When we got there, I gave the man my raffle ticket and he called the manager. The manager came out to show me my new air conditioner. I told him I was to pick out the air conditioner I wanted. He agreed and showed me three different models. Dad spoke up and told him that wasn’t how it sounded. He thought I should be able to choose my air conditioner, and not just choose between their choices. The man apologized for the misconception, but said it wasn’t done on purpose. Dad asked if we could trade it in for the bigger air conditioning unit I needed. He said he would take the price of their chosen AC unit, and take it off the price of the AC unit I chose. I still couldn’t afford the bigger air conditioner. I took the smaller AC unit home, hoping I would get some comfort out of the smaller AC unit, but seriously doubting it.
