I have to say that I definitely appreciate current heating plus a/c technology.

• It has definitely made life a lot easier plus more comfortable with the best indoor comfort to date.

At least in my own personal plus private lifetime that is! In the last 20 years alone there has been so much added to the heating plus a/c products on the market this week that 40 years ago my friend and I would have never imagined even being a option. Things like radiant radiant floors for instance, with radiant radiant floors who knew that someday you could heat your entire full condo with hot water pipes underneath cement or wood floors! That is amazing heating plus a/c technology in itself! Then when you feel about things like the smart temperature control, that is even more amazing. A temperature control that can be controlled from virtually someplace in the world. And I mean the entire planet when I say that. And who knows, maybe you could even control a smart temperature control from out in space too. Who knows on all of those theories. But a smart temperature control is also a programmable temperature control in which this means you can program it to turn off plus on whenever you want at whatever temperature you want. And that is with the heating plus the a/c, on top of all that, the smart temperature control will eventually be able to figure out your favorite uneven temperatures plus set itself. Isn’t that definitely awesome? Yeah! I feel so! Heating plus a/c technology just keeps getting better plus better plus I can not wait to see what will be around the corner!

I have been an HVAC technician for almost five years, but my dad still wouldn’t let me work on his HVAC equipment.

He thought that since the HVAC equipment was owned by a family member, I wouldn’t do as good a job as I would for someone else. I tried to tell him I would do a better job, because I wouldn’t want to disappoint him, but he didn’t believe me. I didn’t care whose HVAC equipment I was working on. I knew that without heat and air conditioning, I am playing with someone’s comfort, and possibly their lives. I take my job as an HVAC technician quite seriously. I want to make sure people I work for are happy and comfortable in their homes when I leave. I don’t know how to make dad understand that when I say people, I mean him also. Last month, he called and asked if I would work on Grandma’s air conditioning. He knew it wasn’t working well, and the weather wasn’t the nicest this time of year. There were severe storms rolling through, and the temperatures were well above ninety. He didn’t want grandma to go without air conditioning, and no one else was available. Grandma thought I was the best HVAC technician she had ever had in her house. I wish I could make dad realize I would do the same job for him and mom as I did for grandma. Maybe grandma can convince me to let me work on his HVAC equipment. I would do the work for the price of parts, and my parents wouldn’t need to worry about their HVAC equipment, ever again.

Being an HVAC technician comes with so many other perks other than getting paid well.

I don’t think I ever thought money is everything in HVAC. Everyone in my dad’s HVAC company thought the same thing while working there. Dad has an HVAC company that is built on new HVAC technicians. He brings them in right out of HVAC school, even before the ink is dry on their certification. He trains them to be top-notch HVAC technicians and then lets them go their separate ways. Some of those HVAC technicians stayed on, but most of them already had dreams of where they wanted to work. Getting an apprenticeship in my dad’s company is just a stepping stone to getting where they want to be. My dad once worked for a national HVAC company, and he was one of the best. He helped me open the HVAC company I now own, and we work together. When he first talked about being a training HVAC company, I didn’t think it would be lucrative. I would be paying someone to work for me, get their training, and then let them loose as soon as they were good at their jobs. I’m proud of what I turn out, but I’m always sorry to see them go. The HVAC technicians don’t always work out, and they quit before they go any further. I have five HVAC technicians that started out as apprentices and asked if they could stay on for my dad and I. Money wasn’t everything when we started the HVAC company, but we still became successful.

I had been dating Christy for almost a year before I met her parents.

I met her shortly after I went to HVAC school.

She helped me with my studying and questioned me on everything I was learning. I never asked how she knew so much about HVAC, because she was reading the manuals right along with me. Now that I look back on that time, I realize she was often telling me what something meant when I was scratching my head. When I graduated from HVAC classes, my instructor invited me to take on an apprenticeship in his HVAC company. I couldn’t wait to see Christy and tell her about my new job. I ended up calling her while walking out of the school and to my car. I don’t know who was more excited; me or her. I had been working for the HVAC for about three months, when she invited me to meet her parents. I knew she had made up her mind about becoming my wife. She put her ring on, and we headed over to her parents’ house. I almost walked back out when the owner of the HVAC company I worked for walked out. He greeted me and smiled. I looked at Christy, wondering why she hadn’t told me I was working for her father. She shrugged as if to tell me it was easier this way. I suddenly realized why she was so smart when it came to HVAC and how she knew all the terms without looking them up. She was brought up in a family of HVAC technicians, and heard all about it almost every day.

Even before my HVAC company officially opened, it was already failing. I couldn’t find a couple of good HVAC techs who could work for me. I didn’t have enough income to buy everything that was necessary to work on air conditioning units this year, or the furnaces in the winter. I was frustrated and ready to give up within weeks of getting my small business loan. The banker called and asked why I hadn’t put up a website, or done any work to start building a customer database. I should have known I needed to start building a customer database before I did anything else, but I wasn’t really prepared. I had a lot of small things happening in the process that had me frustrated and ready to give up. My wife was helping, but she knew nothing about HVAC. She knew the business side of starting a company, but not the actual HVAC company. Without asking, she built a website to tell people about our upcoming HVAC company. She had an announcement about our opening, and how people could sign up for a free HVAC service. Everything we talked about incorporating into the HVAC company, she had in our website. It was the nicest website I had ever looked at, and it was informative. Within a week of having the website live, we had ten people signing up for a free service, and five others wanting more information. My wife saved our failing HVAC company. Five years later, we had the top HVAC company in our area, and I owe it all to my wife. It was her business knowledge that made our HVAC company a success.
