I made the mistake of attempting my hand at leak detection and repair in my bathroom.
The pipe sprung a leak when I was cutting some tile and it was going into the apartment below me.
The water was accruing so fast that it scared me. I did manage to locate the pipe and I taped around it for a quick fix. I realized that I did not have the skills to repair the pipe though. I got on the phone and called for an emergency plumbing service to resolve the issue ASAP. I needed someone who would come immediately and get my water where it was supposed to be. The guy was great. He arrived on time, with his tools, and left no mess behind. He resolved that pipe repair in a matter of minutes. It made me feel silly that I had hours to mess with it and couldn’t get it done. This guy had no time at all on the job and resolved it quickly. I also wasn’t happy that I was in the middle of the project and had to spend money on a plumbing repair. I live in an apartment and I had to pay for someone else’s rental. However, I knew I couldn’t call my landlord to tell him I was changing the flooring and I also made a mess in his unit. Doing some minor aesthetic changes is one thing. Changing the plumbing is a whole other thing altogether. Plumbing repairs should always be left to the professionals in a humble opinion.
