I woke up today to 11 degrees Celsius, or for you Americans it was about 52F.

My flat was pretty cold compared to what it was last year, and I recognize I may need the oil furnace soon.

I am trying to avoid using any style of heating or cooling till I get my next power bill because the last one was through the roof and I can’t afford another one of those. I got my bill a couple weeks after the billing cycle at the end of the summer and was still running my A/C then. Well, as soon as I got the bill, the A/C got shut down for the rest of the summer, so I hope that my next power bill isn’t silly high again. I am making just enough money each month to pay the rent and some small energy costs. I’m not going to run the heating and air conditioning program unless it is an extreme need because I have heard that the heating is even more costly to run than the AC. I am wearing more clothes in the apartment, however if we get some days below zero, I am going to be forced to run the heat or at least use my little portable area oil furnace in each room. I just need to get a roommate and it will all be nice again. The only problem is that my crazy landlord said he doesn’t want me to have a roommate. However, that is out of the question now with the power bills all of us are getting in today’s world.

I savor this time of year because I can open the sliding glass doors and just enjoy some fresh air. While most of the country is already dealing with cold temps, we’re right in the sweet spot, even though it’s almost Thanksgiving. In our region, heating the home and office is a big deal around here. The air conditioning can be on from mid May all the way into September. But for the numerous months of deep heat during the summer, the heating and air conditioning’s cooling unit is running all the time. So enjoying fresh air with the heat pump off is just so nice, as I really do savor fresh air! Going forward, the heat pump might come on a handful of times over the wintertime just to knock the chill out of the house. But again, our winters are so mild that it doesn’t happen all that often. I am just entirely thankful for my heat pump because it keeps myself and others so comfortable. It does such a good task of keeping the apartment so pleasant during the summer months. Summer around here would be quite impossible if it wasn’t for that lovely heat pump. The heat pump is providing us with the cooling that all of us need, but it’s also doing another much needed service. The heat pump balances the humidity inside our homes as it is cooling our homes. Of course, this is key particularly where all of us live because the humidity can be overwhelming. The heat pump balances the humidity in our apartment so all of us have nice crisp cooling air. And we also don’t have to clean up a bunch of mold and mildew due to high humidity levels inside or homes.

I entirely haven’t had that much experience when it comes to dealing with the heating and air conditioning equipment.

That was always taken care of by my partner.

But once we got divorced, he offered me a crash course in all things residential heating and air conditioning. I have to say that my ex was pretty good once we split and he still lives here in town. There were times he would call on his way back from the commercial heating and air conditioning office to see if he could come by just to change the air filter. But when he took a job out of state, he was kind enough to give me a big list of things I like to do around the house. Actually it was more like a manual, it was so comprehensive. But it entirely has come in handy when I am trying to understand something that has to do with the upkeep of our home. Right before my ex partner moved away, he signed me up for the heating and air conditioning service plan that we used to have long ago. This is a heating and air conditioning maintenance system which is offered by the local heating and air conditioning supplier we have always used. Every one of us gets heating maintenance in the fall and then an air conditioning tune up in the springtime, but I also get coupons for other services. And if there is a breakdown I only have to pay for the parts. However, the latest change with the heating and air conditioning unit was my idea. I upgraded the heating and air conditioning air filter to a new HEPA filter. After doing some research and learning about how important air quality was, it was time for an air filter upgrade. It was entirely cool that the first thing my ex partner noticed was the air quality when he came for a visit.

When it comes to the way we all live inside our house, I lean tough toward cleanliness and organization. So much so, that it’s tough for me to even go to bed knowing there is laundry to fold or a toilet to clean. However, my little ladies really don’t do anything outside of their homework and picking up their rooms. But, they are assigned some cleaning chores before they can go do what they want outside of the house. Of course, that made sense from a timeframe perspective, but I had to recognize that over 18 years of service from a heating and air conditioning equipment is not disappointing at all.

Yet at the same time, I just was so not into dealing with all the details that went into buying a new heating and air conditioning unit. Still, the fact remains that I had no choice, so I called to make an appointment with the heating and air conditioning business. However, we’ve been using the same heating and air conditioning supplier since all of us first moved here. Well, I savor pleasant surprises, and the meeting with the heating and air conditioning professional sure was great. But first off, he did the listening because he wanted to understand what I needed. He asked some key heating and cooling questions about what all of us liked about our outdated heating and air conditioning equipment and what all of us would prefer to improve. He put all that together to help give a variety of new residential heating and air conditioning options. And then he broke things down to my preference and gave a price which was particularly high. There was not one instance of being pushed or prodded to buy anything in particular, but quite the opposite entirely, as he suggested I go home, talk to my partner, and do some research on my own. Of course, that is what we did and I have to say that was a reassuring part of the process. And now, we have some of the best quality heating and air I could ever have wanted with all the heating and air conditioning technology we all need.
