Last week, I called the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier to have some work done on my a/c unit.

• I still had cool air coming from the A/C unit, however I been hearing a few strange noises over the last several afternoons.

This time of year, it often took longer for an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist to arrive because of breakdowns that occur during heat waves. It surprised me it took him less than a month to arrive at my house. When the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist arrived, I showed him to the a/c unit and offered him a glass of iced tea. It was so hot outside that I could not let him work with the afternoonlight beating down on him and not having something chilly to drink. She refused the iced tea, however she accepted a bottle of energy drink that I had in the fridge. I noticed she kept looking into the kitchen window at me as she worked on my a/c unit. I thought she looked familiar, however I thought maybe she was someone my sister graduated with, and my sister was almost 10 years older than I was, and you cannot imagine how shocked I was when she told me her name and this time it clicked. I had graduated middle school with this man, and yet she looked so much older. The afternoonlight had weathered her skin as much as it weathered the a/c units she worked on. Before realizing who the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist was, I thought she was at least 50 years old. When I finally recognized him, I realized she was no older than I was, and I was only 32.

Last week, we had some heavy downpours with vivid lightning and booming thunder. Every time the thunder boomed, our dog run under the bed and my child was right behind him. The lightning sounded like it was hitting every tree, and getting closer to our home. I could not know the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist hadn’t called and let us know she would not be there to work on the a/c unit. I was sad about him out there in this thunder storm, since the A/C unit was metal. I sad the lightning would strike while she was in the A/C unit and she would get struck. About several seconds before she was to arrive, she called to let us know she wasn’t coming that afternoon. She said she was afraid to work in the A/C unit with all the thunder and lightning and promised she would be there the following afternoon. I had been without a/c for two afternoons now, and I didn’t want to go without it for much longer. I sucked it up and turned on all the fans in the house, until the power went off. I was now without a/c and I didn’t have a fan to help keep me cool. I wondered why I hadn’t insisted the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist arrived until another flash of lightning and a crack of thunder chop the skies. All I could do was wait until the storm was over, hope the power would come back on, and the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist kept to her work and showed up to fix the air conditioner the next afternoon.

When my partner said she wanted to take ownership of the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier, I thought she was kidding.

• I knew the owner was getting older, and she was ready to retire.

After a month of her pleading with me, she told me she had already started the paperwork to take over. She hoped she could convince me to be cheerful for him, however she didn’t think it was going to happen. If I wasn’t cheerful with him following her dream, she thought she had found the wrong lady to spend her life with. After supper, I found him in the basement, looking at her paperwork. I offered him a hug and asked him how much she was going to pay me for her web design, and if I was going to be salary or secondly?

I even secured a position in the same Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier my sister was working at. I was going to be localed with a mentor for the first more than five weeks. It devastated me when that mentor was my sister. I went to the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier employer and asked if I could have another mentor other than her and she said no. I was afraid my sister is typically going to be a better Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist than I am if she is my mentor.
