Indoor concerts without air conditioning can be miserable when it’s also warm outside

I loved going to concerts before I got to college.

When I had the time, I loved taking the bus to the inner city where I could see live shows at clubs and bars with the craziest atmospheres. There was this one short-lived music venue in my city that was called The Box Social. They hosted a large number of shows featuring bands in the small indie music scene here. I loved going there on Friday or Saturday nights while I was a senior in high school. It was a 40 minute drive from my house and my friends and I either loaded into a car with one another or took the bus each time. The best shows were during the winter when they would open the exterior doors in the front and in the rear to create a cool cross breeze coming in. Unfortunately, the lack of air conditioning in the summer made those shows somewhat miserable. A lot of clubs in the city lack quality air conditioning in the hottest portions of the summer, and it can get quite uncomfortable inside. You end up sweltering when you’re just trying to have a good time. The last time I went to an indoor concert, it was at a large concert hall that had such good air conditioning that I actually felt cold at various times throughout the show. I wore cool clothing to make sure I didn’t swelter, but it turned out to be unnecessary with the strong air conditioners in the concert hall. I guess I was lucky this time around with the temperatures inside the building.

I always shiver when I take the public bus system in the winter season

We also get a lot of snow and ice that make it considerably harder to get around on a bicycle, which leaves me with the public bus system from October until March every year.

When gas prices jumped over $4.00 a gallon I parked my car for the foreseeable future and started using my bike and the public buses again. It’s not worth it for me to drive in comfort to work if I’m going to be paying twice as much to do so as usual. On top of the money savings, I’ve already lost 15 pounds and I’m starting to feel like I have more stamina than before. I can get to and from work without much issue, and if there are any stops that are too far away for just riding, the bus takes me the rest of the distance. Some people in these setups worry about heavy groceries such as bottled water or laundry detergent, but I have those products delivered to my apartment instead of worrying about getting them myself directly from the store. The only time that I don’t feel completely free with my situation is in winter when the weather gets too cold for me to ride my bike. We also get a lot of snow and ice that make it considerably harder to get around on a bicycle, which leaves me with the public bus system from October until March every year. Sadly, the bus is always so cold that I’m shivering during my ride. There is a meager heating system on all of the city buses, but it never hits my body with enough force to prevent me from noticeably shivering while others are not. It’s nice to save money using public transportation, but I don’t like the constant judgment from others when it comes to the public options.

I want to know what kind of HVAC system to buy for my new northern home

My husband and I were literal nomads for a few years after we bought a camper and found remote work online.

We’d drive from city to city, trying to visit every single state in the nation.

We never made it as far north as Alaska, but we may still buy plane tickets to visit Denali National Park someday. One of the first places we wanted to visit was the southwest, but we were immediately freaked out when we parked the first night and saw a rattlesnake. It was hard to enjoy the desert and mountains in the distance when all we could think about were the venomous snakes and spiders all over the place. We took another trip further north this time, but then we were stranded in the rocky mountains with a flat tire. When we finally came back to the eastern United States, we admitted defeat. Luckily my husband’s parents offered us a house up north after they moved out and downsized in a condominium. Of course I was excited for a free home, however, I had never lived in a cold environment like this for the entirety of the winter season before. I wasn’t even sure what kind of HVAC system we should get to replace the old one left over from when his parents were living inside. That’s why I called a nearby HVAC company to get an estimate on a new system. They recommended a gas boiler system with a split style air conditioner for summer cooling purposes. It’s going to cost a good chunk of money to upgrade the HVAC systems inside, but it’s worth it.

Leaving windows open at home isn’t smart if you have dust and mold outside

These small particles drifted in through open windows

As a guy, many of my close friends in my 20s lived fairly unencumbered lives. Several were perpetual bachelors with messy apartments and lacking hygienic standards that I take for granted within my own life. I hated visiting my friends’ homes and being disgusted by the state of their bathrooms and kitchens. Even the ones with long term partners didn’t seem to care enough about cleanliness and home maintenance. Back then they just wanted to party and have as much fun as possible, and few were thinking about the long term future and what it would hold. My friend Chris lived in the city down the street from the state hospital. It was a high-demand area for real estate, and he was lucky to find the duplex that he resided in for two years before losing it over a dumb plan to “live in the woods” with a conartist he had invited into his life. That duplex would have been a lot better if he had taken better care of it. He always had the windows open, regardless of the time of the year and the weather outside. This resulted in a lot of dust, pollen, and mold spores getting in from outside. These small particles drifted in through open windows. They would settle on every conceivable surface inside his duplex, and you can imagine how bad it would get after just a few weeks of no dusting or sweeping. I would have mild allergic reactions whenever visiting his place and in the end I had to give up visiting my friend where he lives.

My new RV has an air purification system inside for good indoor air

Considering a luxury RV in my early years would have been inconceivable.

My parents were poor and my going to university was in no way a sure ticket to success or wealth of any kind.

I pushed myself harder than most would find comfortable, but I told myself at one point that failure simply wasn’t an option. I had family members that were relying on me to make something of myself with whatever skills I could learn over the years. I was encouraged to attend college and find a respectable career that would make sure I was stuck in poverty like so many before me in my family. Now I have a small business of my own and several employees as well. It feels great knowing that I have enough money laying around where I can get an RV for traveling without worrying how I’m going to make the payments and clear the loan in the end. On top of that, some of the newer RVs are gorgeous luxury models that make some 5-star hotel rooms seem quant by comparison. My new RV has an air purification system inside to ensure that the air is as clean as possible. Whenever you open a window or a door, you’re letting in outdoor air. If you’re like my mother or I, you’ll be affected by airborne allergies whenever they get into the RV. That’s what makes the RV’s air purifier so important. We can’t prevent outdoor air from getting inside the RV, but at least the air purifier does its best job at filtering this air as soon as it gets to the interior. Without the RV’s air purifier running, the air quality wouldn’t be nearly as good inside while traveling down the highway or when we’re parked and trying to sleep.
