HVAC upgrade gives us options

When the old HVAC unit was obviously starting to wear out, we started thinking about replacing it with the latest in residential HVAC.

The old heating and cooling equipment started really having to work too much in order to meet demand.

This was evident in just how big the spikes were in the heating and cooling costs. The HVAC technician confirmed what we thought was happening. So we met with the HVAC professionals to get an idea about what in now available when it comes to HVAC technology. For sure, my wife and I were quite blown away by all the changes. Our old HVAC unit was quite standard when we got it nearly 25 years ago. So when we saw the new stuff, we were sort of taken aback. However, the HVAC professionals also let us know that having the latest in HVAC equipment is really adding value to our home. This is a big part of our thinking as well. We’ve made upgrades to our home in the recent years and have enjoyed the improvements. However, we also made some of those changes with the idea that it was adding value to our home. Same goes with the latest in residential HVAC. Having a house that is attractive to prospective buyers just adds options for us when it comes to selling it. And that is definitely something that is on our radar as the kids are not too far from being completely out on their own once the graduate college. Having the best and latest HVAC technology has just added to our ability to get the most from our home when and if we decide to sell in the next few years.

Easy tips for reducing the cost of HVAC cooling this summer

It’s coming.

There are heat pumps already perking up in my neighborhood.

It won’t be long before mine joins in the chorus of HVAC cooling that will be here sooner than we think. I’m really one of the last ones to flip the thermostat over to HVAC cooling. This gives me and my family the opportunity to sort of get accustomed to the heat. We’re a big outdoor type family so getting acclimated to the heat is important for us. For sure, it gets broiling hot around here in the summer months. But that doesn’t mean it’s time to hide inside the air conditioning for four months either. That would be dumb given how lovely it is around here. There are so many fun, exciting activities to enjoy outside. However, it sure is nice to come home to plenty of HVAC cooling when we get home. To keep our HVAC cooling costs in check, we start with HVAC maintenance to ensure the heat pump is running at maximum efficiency. From there, it’s all about making sure the house is sealed tight and that we’re maintaining thermostat discipline as well. For that, we try to follow a simple rule. We try to keep the thermostat setting around 15 degrees cooler than the outside temperatures. This is especially key during the heat of the day. We program our thermostat to be in the 80’s during the peak heating hours of the day. This allows us to enjoy air conditioning comfort and humidity balance inside without overloading the HVAC equipment. It’s not too tough to manage the air conditioning in this region as long as you make the effort.

It was all thanks to a great HVAC contractor

There has been so much change in just the past 20 years that it’s sort of staggering for me really.

Even 20 years ago, I still sort of felt behind when it came to computers and technology.

So when it came time to focus on the heating and cooling of our new house, I really wasn’t quite sure just where to start. Our last and only family home had the HVAC equipment we put in when we bought last almost until we sold it. In fact, the need to update the residential HVAC was one of the tipping points for us when it came to selling the house. The hot market, the fact that we wanted to build a house and a necessary heating and cooling equipment upgrade were all motivators. I pretty much let the HVAC company replace the HVAC unit with something that would be an industry standard without going overboard. But when it came to our new house, my wife and I had some specific ideas when it came to the heating and cooling. We were so lucky to have had the HVAC contractor that we had. Not only is he such a superior HVAC professional, he really listens as he wanted us to have great HVAC comfort. We were really prioritizing maximum efficiency so we ended up going deep with the HVAC technology. But I don’t feel afraid of it at all. All of the new HVAC technology is so intuitive and easy to embrace. I don’t feel like I can’t set the thermostat on the air conditioning. Yet, I really don’t even have to do that thanks to the smart thermostat!

Getting help with heat and humidity thanks to heat pump

When it gets hot around here, I mean it gets hot.

Thankfully, unlike many of my ancestors, I was born in an age of residential HVAC. I can only imagine what those folks had to endure before air conditioning. I know one thing, without HVAC cooling, I sure wouldn’t be doing much of anything at all in the summer. I heard tales from my grandparents about how they had to adjust to the heat and humidity of the summer. It meant a wake up call of 3 in the morning to get to working by 4. The heat of the day had to be spent resting in the shade with a hope for a breeze but at least maybe a hand fan. I can imagine having to deal with that sort of change to my schedule. But I get the benefit of HVAC technology which created the heat pump. While the HVAC technology of the heat pump still relies on about the same dynamic of physics and engineering, it’ still come a long way. There have been dramatic gains in both HVAC technology and efficiency in the 70 or so years that it’s been around. One thing I give thanks for is that the HVAC cooling process also helps balance the humidity level in the house as well. That is so important to keep the green stuff like mold and mildew at bay without being elbow deep in bleach water. The HVAC cooling process helps remove moisture from the air and replace it with cooling but dryer air. That helps to mitigate mold & mildew growth.

Old cabin gets new HVAC

I’m glad to get away to the cabin.

It’s a haven and normally, a haven from the stressors in my life.

But as nice as it is to be at the cabin, it’s just gotten a whole lot better. I talked a buddy of mine who is an HVAC technician into installing a pair of ductless heat pumps in my family cabin. This is probably going to blow my dad’s mind. He may even be temporarily angry that I made this move without him. But I know for sure that having quality heating and air in that cabin will get mom and my wife out there. And really, that’s sort of what he wants most. Dad’s getting old and the cabin has always been maybe his favorite place to be. Yet, it was in such rustic, all boy shape that neither of our wives wanted to spend any time there. So, I figured I’d make the cabin more attractive to the farer sex and the younger crowd. Along with the residential HVAC equipment. I also had satellite internet hooked up. I cleaned up and painted the interior before adding some comfy couches and chair with a big TV in the corner. Of course the TV is on the opposite side of the fireplace and the view. I won’t be watching any TV that’s for sure. However, it’s sure going to be nice to have handy HVAC heating in the winter before I get the fire started. And sleeping at night will be so much more comfortable in the summer. There are nights that just have to have some HVAC cooling to sleep well.
